Currently enrolled 5th grade students have the exciting opportunity to join the Tays JH Orchestra! Students can learn to play the violin, viola, cello or double bass. Please read important information below on how to join the orchestra.

Instrument selection will take place at Tay's Junior High on the evenings of April 26th from 4:30-6:30pm and April 27th from 4:30-6:30pm. Sign up using the buttons below.
STUDENTS WITH PLAYING EXPERIENCE:
(Students with at least 1 year of private string instruction)
Students with at least 1 year of private string instruction may audition for an advanced orchestra. Auditions will take place in person at Tays Junior High on the evening of April 20th from 4:30pm-6:30pm. Click the button below to sign up for an audition time.
Audition requirements:
1) Choose 2 of the following major scales for your audition recording: C, D, G, A, F, B-flat, E-flat. Quarter note = 70. One legato quarter note per pitch. To be considered for the Sinfonia and Chamber orchestra levels (the two most advanced orchestra levels), you must prepare three-octave major scales and demonstrate use of vibrato.
2) Solo piece of your choice representing your tone quality and technical ability (memorization not required).
3) Sight-reading.
Auditioning for a performing group does not guarantee membership to a performing group. All orchestra placements are at the sole discretion of the directors, not the private teacher or parent.
